Griezmann, who is 34 years old, joined Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014. He has had a successful time at the club, winning the Europa League in 2018 and finishing as runner-up in the Champions League twice. However, in 2025, Griezmann struggled to find his form, scoring only once in February.

Before returning to Atletico in 2021, Griezmann played for Barcelona from 2019. Although he won a Copa del Rey during his time there, he struggled to make a significant impact. Griezmann's experience and skills will be valuable to Atletico as they prepare to compete in the Club World Cup in the United States this summer.

Atletico's first match at the Club World Cup will be against Paris Saint-Germain, the winners of the Champions League, on June 15th.
