The match started poorly for Empoli, with Suat Serdar scoring a beautiful goal for Verona just four minutes in. Despite dominating much of the first half, Empoli struggled to create clear scoring opportunities, and it wasn't until the brink of halftime that they managed to equalize through Jacopo Fazzini's clever finish.
The second half saw Empoli continue to control the game, but they couldn't find a way to convert their possession into goals. Verona eventually took the lead again with time running out, thanks to Domagoj Bradaric's close-range header.
Verona held on to secure their place in Serie A for next season, finishing 14th in the league table. Empoli, on the other hand, will have to regroup and prepare for life in Serie B after a disappointing end to the campaign.
